Inside Mans #7 : Product Hunt 2nd product of the day
Avocado Growth, my tech mentoring platform, came 2nd Product of the day. It was hard to get to first place, but I'm really pleased with the response and support I've received.
A total of 341 Upvotes, 118 comments and some pretty positive reviews.
In terms of visits during these 24 hours, we had 475 visitors from all over the world, France, USA, India, UK, Canada, Africa, South America... I'm always surprised and amazed to see a project of mine getting people from all over the world to work on it.
As a reminder, I built this MVP in 45 days, the aim was to launch very quickly on the market and collect feedback from real users so that I could improve it.
In terms of features, I've stuck to the simple idea of being able to communicate with a mentor and pay, but I've got a lot of feedback to improve or set goals.
Strategy
You have to prepare for the launch and you can't do it at the last minute, even if I take it as a game, you still have to try to maximise the number of people who can support you.
The very first strategy is BUILD IN PUBLIC, to be transparent about the project, I show the progress on a daily basis on my networks, so I've already got a small base to follow.
MAILIST
I've got a mail list with 300 people on it, every Avocado Growth user is on it, so when I have a new feature, for example, I communicate via that channel, so let's use it to ask for support.
NEWSLETTER
I have around 500 subscribers to my newsletter, where every week I try to keep people up to date with my news.
TWITTER & LINKEDIN
I'm very present on both these networks, so it's the perfect place to make good connections and ask for support, but before you ask for support, don't forget to support others - it's free!
Conclusion
What I've learned from this launch is that it's complicated to get people upvoting in the summer, so I'd tell everyone to get out there quickly and not wait for the perfect product. This will allow you to get feedback and gain the trust of your users.
