#5 Weekly Mans in Tech — Indie Make with a 9-5 job and two kids.
From warehouseman to developer/maker
My day
Most people I know are amazed when they discover that I'm a solopreneur alongside a 9-5 job, with a family life (2 children) and playing sport.
In this issue, I'd like to tell you about my organization and what a typical day looks like. Don't get me wrong, it's sporty, but it's what drives me, the challenge and the fact that I set myself goals to achieve.
I wake up around 5/5:30 (I'm not an early riser but having a family and a toddler, waking up early is natural), it's the best time of the day, no noise, I pray, I stretch, a piece of fruit and we start, generally I know what I have to work on.
I leave for two hours of work, with no notification and nothing, in the hope that my girl will wake up at 7 a.m.
7 a.m. the kids arrive, we have breakfast as a family, get ready and off we go to school.
At 8 a.m., I drop the kids off, 8.15 a.m. I'm back, working on my project for another hour before starting my day job.
9h15 I switch PCs, we start with the daily teamwork, then go to work on the various tasks until 12h.
12h it's time to eat for most people but for me it's time for sport I go to BJJ, eh yes black belt now, 1h training, my dish is always ready in advance so when I get home I eat in front of my pc, I eat before and after training.
Here I go again until 4:30-5pm, deep working to be ultra-productive.
4:30 pm I pick up the kids at school, go home and check a few things before leaving the work computer.
5pm to 7pm is family time, where we relax, eat and play.
If it's Monday or Wednesday, I go back to BJJ from 7pm to 8pm, otherwise, I stay on the couch with my wife, we binge, and we hang out on our PCs, she's also in dev training, so mentoring is free.
10:30 pm is lights out, the day starts at 5 am and we're off again.

React Careers a Reverse Job Board for React developers
The concept: register, create a profile, and write a presentation of your skills. On the Dev side, time saved and peace of mind, recruiters and companies go through the platform, spot your profile, and contact you. On the recruiter's side, check each application, do some research, LinkedIn etc..
Why not have a list of ready-to-go React Devs you just need to contact?
Thanks for reading my newsletter. Have a nice week ❤️
